HOOK and Newnham Basics looked to heading to victory at Totton and Eling, when their game was abandoned 13 overs into the second innings.
The home side were 60-5 when the rain saved them, after Ollie May (3-28) in for Shane Brewer, and Spencer Champ (2-24) had made early inroads into the Totton top order.
Earlier, in the contest Kieran Thomson hit a superb 122 in 104 balls which included 21 fours and one six as Hook scored 256.
Thomson and Ben Thane (30) put on 91 for the first wicket and then Thomson and Matt Buckingham (27) added 63 for the fourth wicket.
The best scores from the bottom five came from Josh Buckingham (22 not out) from 26 balls and Nick Willcock (21).
Christopher Thomason was the top Totton bowler with 4-27.
