BRAD Compton-Bearne was in record-breaking form for Oakley II, smashing his way to an unbeaten 180 and taking four wickets as his side claimed a potentially crucial victory in Hampshire Cricket League Regional Division Three North East.

The 20-year-old all-rounder, who only began playing cricket this year, entered the fray with Oakley 90-3 after 16 overs at home to Sparsholt III.

He proceeded to smash the bowling to all parts, reaching his century in just 34 balls before ending the innings unbeaten on a club record score of 180. He hit 21 sixes and shared a unbeaten partnership of 101 for the ninth wicket, another club record, with step-brother Charlie Bearne.

By the end of their innings, Oakley had reached a mammoth 335-8 from their 42 overs, another club record, but Compton-Bearne was not done there, taking 4-14 with the ball as Sparsholt were bowled out for 140.

The result leaves Oakley in with a chance of finishing in the top two, but it is St Mary's who occupy second place heading into the final week of the season after beating Hartley Wintney III by four wickets. Daniel Bowles hit 86 as Hartley made 203, but Tom Lee's 91 helped St Mary's over the line for an important win.

Overton III beat Colden Common II by six wickets after dismissing their hosts for 183, but Basingstoke and North Hants V were bowled out for 91 at Easton and Martyr Worthy II, losing by four wickets. Odiham and Greywell III's trip to Liphook and Ripsley III was conceded by the hosts.

Odiham and Greywell's first team have been knocked off the top of the Division One North table after suffering a six-run reverse at home to Medstead. Becky Hartnett took 4-35 and Ross McGaughrin 3-59 as the visitors were restricted to 229-8, but while Kyran Munt made 75, Odiham were bowled out for 223.

Ashford Hill and Old Basing II both enjoyed big wins. Pete Newton took 3-13 as Ashford Hill bowled visiting St Mary Bourne out for 86 and won by 10 wickets, while Kannan Kumara hit 76 as Basing made 206-7 before dismissing visitors Holybourne for 80.

Ramsdell played out a tie with Old Alresford, Dave Simpson hitting 84 as both sides ended up on 220.

Andy Giles hit 120 and Rowan Simpson followed up taking three wickets by making 73, but Basingstoke and North Hants IV lost by 19 runs at home to Longparish II, being bowled out for 222 chasing 241-6.

Ollie Cox's good all-round display was not enough to stop Kingsclere losing. He took 3-35 as hosts Chawton made 247-9 and hit 69 in Kingsclere's reply, which ended on 171.

Herriard were bowled out for just 31 and lost by 10 wickets at Donnington, while Sherfield-on-Loddon lost by 110 runs at home to Tichborne Park II, failing to chase down 255-8.

Ollie Dodd was in top form for Silchester as they beat visiting Ropley by eight wickets in Division Two North. Dodd took 4-30, with Shaun Bradley taking 3-33, as Ropley were restricted to 157-9, before the all-rounder smashed his way to an unbeaten 89 in the home side's winning reply.

Ian Finlayson hit an unbeaten 122 to guide Rotherwick ITW to a four-wicket win at St Cross Symondians V, the visitors chasing down 187-7.

Ambrish Vyas took 4-38 as Old Basing III bowled hosts East Woodhay II out for 205, but the visitors could only make 149-8 in reply, while Odiham and Greywell II were bowled out for 103 chasing 130 at Stockbridge.

Hook and Newnham Basics IV were dismissed for 147 chasing 228-7 at Amport.

Overton II are up to fourth in Division Three North West after beating Andover IV by six-wickets, having restricted their hosts to 139-7.

Herriard II are third in Division Four North after dismissing visiting Aldershot V for 97, with Tom Moore and Pat McCarthy both taking three wickets, going on to win by a three-wicket margin.

Ramsdell II are second after bowling hosts Wherwell II out for 78 and winning by five wickets.
