BASINGSTOKE and North Hants maintained their 100 per cent start to their Southern League Division One campaign with 150-run victory at Rowledge.

Basingstoke made two changes to their line-up with Dean Nurse and Dan King coming for Chris Oliver and Patrick Joseph.

The visitors won the toss and elected to bat and posted their highest total of the season so far 286-8.

Opener Mitch Stokes led the way with a 117-ball 139 which included 16 fours and five sixes.

He was backed up by an excellent 81 from Nurse on his return to the first team.

In reply, Rowledge were soon in trouble as opening Bountymen bowlers Martyn James (4-12) and Graham Porter (3-35) reduced the home side to 11-4.

Stokes (3-20) completed a great day as he took out some of the lower order as Rowledge were bowled out for 136.

Basingstoke, who remain in third place, entertain Andover on Saturday looking for win number five.

The second XI also enjoyed that winning feeling on Saturday for the first time in Division Three, as they won by seven wickets and moved off the bottom of the table Visiting Alton IIs to May’s Bounty won the toss and elected to bat and were bowled out for 123.

This was thanks to excellent figures from Keith Harris (10-6-11-3) and Rakitha Perera (10-6-9-3), while Bradley Neal also chipped in with two wickets.

A second wicket stand worth 94 between opener Andy Giles (29) and Steve Bucksey (51) helped the home side to a winning score of 127-3 and next week they travel to Trojans.
