IT WAS a triple delight for the girls from Basingstoke and North Hants’ under-13 team as three of them Kate Murphy, Jasmine Rampton and Gemma Connolly have all been selected for Hampshire.

The trio all helped Basingstoke's under-13 side to comprehensive 46-run victory over visiting Alton in the North Hampshire League County Cup.

Rampton and Connolly led the batting in the game, as Rampton retired not out on 25 and Connolly also retired unbeaten on 22.

This helped the home side posted an impressive total of 106-2 from their 16 overs.

Connolly and Rampton then opened the bowling with Connolly returning impressive figures of 3-2-2-3, while Rampton collected 1-11.

Murphy came on late on in the attack and bowled two tidy overs for four runs and also took a wicket.

The three players were also part of the Basingstoke under-14 side which lost their opening North Hampshire League game, away at a strong Aldershot which also had a number of county players.

The home side scored 90-6 from their 14 overs, with Ruth Warner (2-11) the pick of the visitors bowlers as she took two wickets with her first two balls, but the hat-trick alluded her. Jess Head (2-21) also bowled a very tidy three over spell.

In the Basingstoke reply, Murphy opened the batting and retired on 30, Connolly was next best on 12, but after this some tight bowling from the home side limited the visitors to 76-5.

Any girls wishing to give cricket a go can just turn-up for training at May's Bounty, under-12s on Monday evenings 6.30pm and under-14s and under-16s is on Tuesday evenings 6.30pm.
