HARTLEY Wintney are determined to end their winless start to their Southern League Division One campaign when they entertain Calmore Sports on Saturday.

Hartley captain Jamie Teale said: "We are playing at home and Calmore have twice been bowled out for less than 100 this season and I hope we can do the same at our place this weekend.

"We beat then twice last season, so the omens are good, but we have a number of players out."

Hartley will be without top all rounder Scott Baldwin, as well as wicket keeper Richard Hill and Danny Plume.

Baldwin, who has started the season in fine form will be a big miss, but top opening bowler Tommy Flanders is back, while Scott Carter will be behind the stumps and Julian Ford returns to the line-up.

Last weekend, the village side were beaten by one wicket at Bournemouth even if they were bowled out for 125.

The home side getting home with 17 balls to spare after a really solid bowling display led by Mark Teale (3-20).

He was supported well by Chris Jolley (2-21), Aaron Wivell (1-23) Baldwin (1-31) and Jamie Teale (0-24).

It was Bournemouth skipper Martin Miller (40) and David Kidner (47) who made sure the Dorset side won.

Kidner proved to be the main weapon of the Bournemouth attack with an impressive return of 5-24 and he removed most of the Hartley top order as they struggled to 46-6.

Baldwin (31) was the village side’s top scorer and Jolley (22) was the next best scorer.

Talking about the game at Bournemouth Hartley skipper Teale added: "We bowled really well and it was shame we were unable to bat for the full 50 overs as we would have won the game for sure. It was a good deck, but we once again got out to poor shots."
