BASINGSTOKE and North Hants lead the NatWest under-16 Indoor Cricket League at the halfway break, having won six of their seven matches at the Ageas Bowl.

They completed the first half of their programme with wins over South Wilts and South East Hants.

They chased down a South Wilts total of 131-4 to win with three balls to spare and then trimmed South East Hants by 13 runs following a late-order collapse that cost the district side dear.

George Metzger, with an unbeaten 31, was the hero of the win over South Wilts.

Joe Oates, with 47, and Ashley Neal, with an unbeaten 27, led the way against South East Hants.

Oates is now the leading batsman in the competition with 207 runs.
