James Vince missed out on an England Lions run feast - dismissed by a Southern Electric Premier League all-rounder.
The Lions dominated the opening day’s play of their tour of South Africa, reaching stumps on 361-4 against a Gauteng Invitation XI at the University of Johannesburg CC.
But Vince made just seven before hitting Hambledon all-rounder Nono Pongolo’s seam-up to cover. Openers Adam Lyth (106) and Sam Robson (109) both retired after putting on 176 for the first wicket.
Alex Lees made an unbeaten 82 but lost captain Jonathan Trott for a duck, and Vince was out eight overs later.
Jonny Bairstow (32no) helped Lees add another 86 before stumps.
