HAMPSHIRE Cricket officials have bowed to “unprecedented demand” and released additional seating for England’s Royal London One-Day International against Australia next year.

A limited number of second phase mid-wicket seats priced at £50 on both the East and the West side of the ground have been released for the September 3 encounter.

That is in response to the high demand for tickets since going on general sale last month.

The first match of a five ODI series between two of the fiercest rivals in world cricket comes after England’s potentially series deciding third ODI against New Zealand at the Ageas Bowl on Sunday, June 14.

A statement said: “Both of the 2015 Ageas Bowl ODIs have received a phenomenal response, with more internationals tickets at the home of Hampshire Cricket sold inside the first 30 days than ever before.”

Ageas Bowl Commercial Director, Stuart Robertson, said: “There’s been an overwhelming response for tickets for our two ODI’s next year and a clear interest from international cricket fans in the south.

“There’s still a buzz around the ground since the success of the Test Match this year and we envisage these additional seats to go quickly.” England have met Australia three times previously at The Ageas Bowl in one-day internationals.

On the last occasion, in September 2013, former Hampshire all-rounder Shane Watson smashed 143 in his country’s 49-run victory.

There have been centuries in the other two games as well.

Cameron White struck 105 in Australia’s victory in September 2009, while Eoin Morgan compiled a match-winning 103 not out for England the following June.

The two ODIs will also be the first International matches to be played in-front of the completed Hilton Hotel at the northern end of the ground, which is scheduled to be finished at the beginning of May.

These newly available tickets can be purchased online via www.eticketing.co.uk/ageasbowl, by phoning 0844 847 1863, or in person from the Ageas Bowl Ticketing and Membership Office during normal working hours.
