HARTLEY Wintney CC will look to keep up the pressure on Southern League Division Two leaders Rowledge with a win at struggling OTs and Romsey on Saturday.

OTs and Romsey are fighting to avoid relegation and could again include Hampshire star Chris Wood in their line-up. He made an appearance a fortnight ago for Romsey.

The village side will also be looking to avenge a defeat earlier in the season, when they were bowled out for 148, trying to chase down 207.

Hartley make one change to the side which beat Paultons last week as wicket-keeper Richard Hill returns and takes the place of Scott Carter.

Looking ahead to the game, captain Jamie Teale said: “We know it is going to be a tough game this week, as OTs won last week and are fighting for the win as much as we are.

“We want to keep winning as it is very close between four teams at the top of the league at the moment.”

Hartley kept themselves in the title race with a 20-run victory over visiting Paultons on Saturday.

After a bad start, opener Jack Hersh (72) and evergreen Matt Digweed (66) got the team back on track with a fourth-wicket stand worth 105 runs.

Captain Jamie Teale (32) and Digweed added 56 runs for the next wicket, as Hartley were all out for 245 off the last ball of their innings.

Opener Stewart Magee (62) kept Paultons in the hunt, but two wickets each for Ari Karvelas and Mark Teale removed the top order and then Chris Jolley (4-29) did the same with the tail, as the visitors were all out for 225.

Skipper Jamie Teale said: “It is nice to see the batsmen taking it in turns to score and I felt 245 was a decent score to defend.

“They were going well with their opener, but once we got him out, they crumbled.

“Chris Jolley had two excellent spells and in the second he wiped out the tail.”
