THE Basingstoke Bison Ladies maintained their unbeaten start to their Women’s Division One South campaign with a hard fought away win against the Solent Amazons.

The Ladies got off to a perfect start when team captain Jodie Attrill tapped home after only 40 seconds assisted by Jennie Agass and Elise Willoughby.

The Amazons responded with two quick fire goals from Ellie Cole and Tamsin Turner, both coming only 16 seconds apart.

In the second period, the Ladies got the game tying goal at the half way point, with an unassisted effort. Hannah Byron picked up the puck in the defensive zone skated the whole length of the ice and fired an unstoppable shot to the goalie’s glove side.

The game turned into a physical encounter with both Amazons and Bison players taking roughing penalties.

The Ladies took the lead with only six minutes left in the third period.

Michaela Walker collected the puck on the left wing, cut inside the last defender and fired the puck top shelf giving the Solent netminder no chance.

Walker then bagged her second goal of the game two minutes later, when she latched on to a pass from Lauren Pilbeam to seal a 4-2 win.

The Ladies are home to Invicta on Sunday (4.30pm).
