THE Basingstoke Bison have another massive weekend ahead of them in two different cup competitions.

The Herd start things off with the first leg of a huge Autumn Cup semi-final clash with the visiting Hull Pirates.

This is a rare Friday night game at the Basingstoke Arena and the action starts at 7.45pm.

The Pirates are one of the top sides of North One and warmed for their trip south, with a 9-0 thrashing of the Nottingham Lions with their top three scorers Matty Davies, Bobby Chamberlain and Jason Hewitt helping themselves to 16 points.

Last weekend, the Bison beat South One title rivals the Swindon Wildcats 2-1 after a penalty shoot-out and then lost the return in Wiltshire 4-2.

The prize for victory over the Pirates in the Autumn Cup is a final against the Wildcats.

On Saturday (5.30pm), the Herd second in South One travel to Lee Valley, for their first league away game against the fourth placed London Raiders.

Looking ahead to the weekend, Bison captain Aaron Connolly said: "I cannot fault the work rate of the guys last weekend and this is another massive weekend for the team."
