THE Basingstoke Bison returned to the top of South One, after they gained quick revenge for Saturday's home loss with the Peterborough Phantoms with a 4-3 away victory against the same opponents.
Hallam Wilson gave the Herd the the lead, after a converted a pass from Roman Malinik in the ninth minute.
Soon after, a penalty on Paul Petts, saw the Phantoms level on the powerplay from Scott Robson.
However, Kurt Reynolds made sure the Bison led at the first break with a goal at 17:01.
The visitors doubled their advantage at 24:10 from Dan Davies, only for the home side to pull one back a minute later from Ales Padelek.
Having picked up a helper on the previous two Bison goals, Ivan Antonov scored the Herd's fourth to make it 4-2 at the second break.
The only goal of the final period from Peterborough's Darius Pliskauskas set up a grand stand finish.
With 30 seconds left, the home side pulled their goalie, but were unable to find an equaliser.
This Saturday, the Bison are at home to the Telford Tigers in the National Cup and then on Sunday are back in league action with a trip to the Bracknell Bees.
