The Basingstoke Bison won the Billy Glover Memorial Trophy thanks to a 10-6 aggregate win over the Peterborough Phantoms in the pre-season series this weekend.

This was after a 6-5 loss in Cambridgeshire on Sunday night, after winning the previous night 5-0 on home ice.

The Phantoms blanked the night before took just 27 seconds to open their account on home ice thanks to Ales Padelek.

However, it was all square by the break after Daniel Lackey netted.

Leigh Jamieson edged the home side in front, before Hallam Wilson. with the first of three assists on the night. set-up Kurt Reynolds to score.

Peterborough retook the lead before the second buzzer as Padelek netted his second of the night on the powerplay after Dan Scott picked a 2+10 checking from behind.

For the start of the final period, Dan Waller-Evans took over in goal from Dean Skinns.

The Herd then had Scott dismissed, as he picked up his second 10 minute penalty of the game this time for dropping the gloves and so was also given a game misconduct.

The Bison levelled at 47:07 from Joe Baird, but Peterborough made it 4-3 taking just four seconds of the extra man to count as Will Weldon scored.

Then with four minutes left, the home side doubled their advantage as Darius Pliskauskas scored.

A minute later, Ivan Antonov pulled one back for the Bison, but 28 seconds after Peterborough scored a sixth with Padelek's hat-trick strike.

The scoring was still not finished as Grant Rounding scored 11 seconds from time to complete the 6-5 scoreline.

This Saturday the Bison open their league campaign with a home game against the Invicta Dynamos.
