OUR second four-point weekend against the Hull Pirates and Bracknell Bees was one which fans and players could enjoy in equal measure.

The previous weekend we had taken four points in a double-header against Sheffield.

It’s always good to pick up maximum points, but it’s best when they come from two hard fought games when we are playing well and that’s what happened last weekend when we played our best hockey of the season.

Our win on Saturday had fans on the edge of their seats as we beat Hull 3-1 in a thrilling game. We knew that we were getting the season back on track.

It’s a measure of how Hull have progressed since last season that they returned home to beat the league leaders, Milton Keynes Lightning, winning 5-1 the following day.

It was the last regular appearance for Alan Lack, who will be remaining with us as injury cover.

He will take with him the best wishes of his team mates and the fans.

The plan is to use Alan for sufficient games to ensure his availability for the play-offs, but we understand the priority of his family and work commitments.

Rene Jarolin wanted to continue playing on Sunday against Bracknell after yet another injury.

He’s had horrible luck so far. Let’s hope he’s getting all his injuries out of the way and can look forward to an injury free season.

Bracknell, of course, our local rivals, were on a high having beaten Guildford the previous evening.

Many thanks to all the fans who travelled with us and enjoyed another good team performance.

We welcome Peterborough this weekend.

The guys are really looking forward to this game, as we have lost twice to them already in very tight games. Another four-point weekend would go down well.
