PLAYERS and fans can enjoy a well-earned break this week after a hectic week of hockey.

Losing in a English Premier League Cup semi-final, winning at home against local rivals Bracknell and playing a really good away game- against Manchester – all in the space of five days – has been tiring.

We dug quite a big hole for ourselves in Guildford, conceding two quick goals in the first period.

It took some time for us to compose ourselves and to tie the game during the third period.

All credit to the Flames for pushing on to gain a narrow win and a place in the Final against Peterborough.

No-one likes going out at that stage of a competition, especially when you feel that you have not performed consistently throughout the game.

But that’s cup hockey and we had to put our frustration and disappointment behind us for our weekend League games.

We did enough to win our home game, but understandably Saturday’s game lacked the usual passion and excitement, despite the best efforts of the DJ and the crowd.

We knew we would have to get back to our best for our Sunday game against Manchester.

Scoring was spread among our forwards, which was pleasing. This ended our mini-series against Phoenix, which ended 6-0 in our favour, having won all our games home and away.

There’s only one team leading us in a mini-series, and we meet them on Saturday.

Although we have scored more goals than Peterborough, they lead us by three wins to two.

A win on Saturday means we take the series on goal difference, which could be significant at the end of the season Every week we welcome newcomers to the sport.

Saturday promises another thrilling night. See you all then.
