WE KNEW we had under-performed against Hull and Bracknell the previous week, which made our four-point weekend against Telford and Manchester all the more satisfying.

A long road trip on Sunday doesn’t feel so long when you are thinking about two great wins.

Tomas Karpov had a big weekend and was involved in eight of the 10 goals we scored.

When you have someone like that on your team who is in the zone, it lifts everyone.

The return of our captain, Aaron Connolly, certainly made a difference on Saturday night. He brings so much intensity and energy to the ice.

Our second period against Telford showed how much we dominated last year’s champions. Penalties in the third period allowed Telford to reduce the deficit, but scoring six goals against them was a measure of how hungry we were to restore our effort and focus.

As I said, it was a great team effort. Alex Symonds, our new signing, fitted effectively into our defence.

This meant that I could ask Stuart Mogg to move up to play forward. Stuart is becoming a first rate defender, but he makes a valuable contribution wherever he is asked to play.

Young Ryan Sutton dressed in his new Bison shirt and, just as he had done when we travelled to Telford, he showed why his team-mates have such confidence in him, despite his inexperience.

This weekend another local player, Ryan Watt, scored his 100th EPL goal. And we all appreciated Joe Rand’s effort on Sunday, playing through an injury, when he knew we were short-benched.

Right now, team spirit couldn’t be better.
