THE Basingstoke Bison were crowned league champions for the third time in the club’s history, after victory over the Cardiff Fire last Sunday.

Tomorrow (7.45pm), the Bison hope to lift another trophy, when they travel to Swindon for the second leg of the Autumn Cup final.

The Herd trail from the first leg 3-1, but head coach Doug Sheppard is up beat and said: "It is not ideal being two goals down, but it we play hard for 60 minutes there is no reason we cannot turn this around.”

On Saturday, the Bison will start their quest for another piece of silverware when they face Invicta in the play-off quarter-finals. The first leg is at home with a 6.30pm face-off with the return in Gillingham on Sunday (5.15pm).

Looking ahead to the Invicta games. Sheppard said: “These games will be a lot harder than last week, as this is a brand new season.”
