THE Basingstoke Buffalo will include Bison's young stars Sam Brooks, Hallam Wilson and Paul Petts on Saturday (6.30pm), when they face South Two title chasers the Oxford City Stars.

With the Bison not having a game it is great chance to see the future stars of the Herd in action.

They warmed up for the encounter with a superb comeback win at local rivals the Guildford Phoenix.

The Buffs came back from 4-0 down to beat Guildford 5-4 in a thriller.

The home side were quickly out of the blocks as Oliver Denis scored after 64 seconds.

Guildford doubled their lead 21 seconds into their second powerplay of the night, as Haydn Wotton scored.

The Phoenix then made it 3-0 at 12.47 from Bailey Wotton and despite the Buffalo having two powerplays before the end of the period, the score remained the same.

The visitor’s started the second period with 1.58 of a powerplay, but despite Wilson going close, they could not break their duck.

Guildford then got their fourth of the night, scored by man of the match Josh Abbott at 26:17.

The Buffalo then ran into penalty trouble with Wilson being given a 10 minute misconduct for stopping in front of the home netminder to force a face off at the Guildford end.

He was quickly joined in the sin bin by Blair Dubyk and Mark Austen on minor penalties, but the visitors killed off nearly two minutes of a 5-on-3.

Buffalo man of the match Neil Leary started the comeback at 35:32, as he netted from Matt Levy.

The captain struck again three minutes later, from Dan Lackey in his first game back for the Buffalo, and Levy to make it 4-2 at the second buzzer.

Just five minutes into the last period the Buffalo took advantage of penalty as Sam Brooks fired home assisted by Compton and Lackey.

A minute later, it was Wilson’s turn with a solo effort to tie the game up.

The Buffalo were not finished and when Guildford inexplicably all went for a line change a smart pass from Warren Jones found Dubyk, and he skated in on former Buffalo netminder Sam Calder and calmly slotted home the game winning goal.
