THE Basingstoke Bison season finished with a play-off semi-final exit at Coventry, as they were beaten 3-2 by Telford Tigers.

The Shropshire side's winner coming on a five minute powerplay after captain Aaron Connolly was dismissed.

Looking back on the Herd's exit Bison head coach Doug Sheppard said: “I felt were in control until the major penalty, which I did not think was a major.

"We killed most of the penalty, before Telford scored and they did well to hold us out after that."

Sheppard added: "It was a disappointing way to end the season, but finishing in top three for the fifth year running shows how consistent we are as a club.”

"The poor start certainly cost, but after that I felt we were as good as any in this league."

With MK and Guildford moving to the Elite League, the Bison are waiting to see where they will play next season and Sheppard hopes it is the new three import Premier League.

The picture should become a lot clearer in the next few weeks.
