I ASKED the guys last week to keep on winning. They did, in two difficult fixtures last weekend.
Guildford at home and Sheffield away are difficult opponents when your whole squad is fit.
But we had a sell-out crowd to support us as we met Guildford in our rink for the last league meeting.
There’s been a great rivalry between our two clubs, which will come to an end when Guildford move up to the Elite League next season.
They had our number earlier this season so there was pride at stake. With the play-offs in sight, it was also important to put a marker down about our readiness for the final competition.
The team did not disappoint, cheered on by their huge support. Joe Rand’s two goals earned him man of the match.
Coming back into hockey half way through the season, Joe is regaining his form week by week.
It has been difficult in the past against Sheffield to play our own style of hockey, but this time we played a solid game and completed a four-point weekend, Tom Hiadlovsky enjoying a shut-out in our 3-0 win.
With Manchester dropping out of the league, we had two fixtures to replace. We decided to slot in a friendly a few weeks ago.
This weekend we’re going to draw breath and instead offer our hundreds of season-ticket holders discounted prices for the play-off series.
We hope to see you all taking advantage of this in a few weeks’ time.
We finish the season in two weeks’ time with back-to-back games against Swindon. The home game is on Sunday, March 19th.
See you then.
