THE Basingstoke Bison will be hoping to keep alive their slim chances of taking third place in the English Premier League, when they travel to Peterborough Phantoms this Sunday (5.30pm).

The Herd are five points behind the third placed Phantoms with a game in hand and know defeat will end any hope they have of moving up the table.

The Bison have yet to win in Cambridgeshire this season and head coach Doug Sheppard said: "Peterborough is always a tough place to go and I hope we can win there this time.".

"At the moment we are gearing up to the play-offs and want us to get a good run going."

Before the Peterborough clash, the Herd are in action on home ice on Saturday (6.30pm) when they face a National Ice Hockey League Select team.

This fixture is on the season ticket and makes up for one of the games lost by the demise of the Manchester Phoenix.

Sheppard said: "It was unfortunate what happened to Manchester, but this game will give the chance for our back-up goalie Dan Weller Evans to get some home ice time which he well deserves as he trains really hard."
