THE Basingstoke Bison suffered a 2-1 defeat at second placed Milton Keynes Lightning last night.

There were no goals in the first 20 minutes, which saw the home side’s James Griffin dismissed for checking from behind on Grant Rounding.

This gave the Herd a five minute powerplay, which they were unable to score on.

The Lightning took the lead in the contest at 35:58 from Lewis Hook.

MK doubled the advantage two minutes later, when Milan Baranyk found a way past Tomas Hiadlovsky.

The final period saw the Bison cut the lead to one goal with three minutes left, when Ciaran Long converted a pass from Tomas Karpov.

In the final minute, the Herd pulled their netminder, but they were unable to force the game into overtime.

This evening, the Bison’s tough weekend continues as they entertain the EPL leaders the Telford Tigers.
