NANA Owusu scored an injury time winner as Basingstoke Town won at Cirencester Town 3-2.

With the game in its seventh minute of added on time, midfielder Owusu scored with a lovely struck free-kick to make it three wins on the trot for the Dragons.

However, the game at Corinium Stadium did not start well for the visitors as the Centurions took the lead in the ninth minute.

This was thanks to captain Matt Liddiard as he scored with a fine header, Gethin Jones nearly added a second, but Alex Tokarczyk made a save.

The home side then managed to get the ball in the net again, but the effort was disallowed after a push on the visitor’s goalkeeper Tokarczyk.

The Dragons still trailed 1-0 at the break, but levelled things up 10 minutes after the interval.

Ashleigh Artwell went on a good run which was ended when he was brought down in the box by sub Mason Thompson. Owusu slotted home from the spot.

Just two minutes later, the Centurions took the lead again, as Henry Spalding was given too much time on the edge of the area.

For the second time in the game, the Dragons roared back as right back Marcus Johnson Schuster’s cross found Aaron Jarvis and the striker scored from a very tight angle on 55 minutes.

The visitors were now starting to dominate the game and Aaron Redford’s low cross saw Owusu hit the post.

Soon after, left back George Bennett made a great goal line clearance to keep the score at 2-2.

The home side then so nearly grabbed the winner as Alan Griffin’s shot hit a defender and bounced to safety.

Then in the final minute the visitor’s sub Michael Atkinson forced Glyn Garner in the home net into a great save.

As the game entered injury time Garner again was called into action to deny Owusu.

However, the midfielder had the final word with the winner from a free-kick, which saw the Dragons move up to 15th in the Southern League Premier Division table.

On Tuesday night, they have a tough looking trip to play-off chasing Banbury United.
