BRADLEY Poole scored the Basingstoke under-15 Bison’s 100th goal of the season with the game winner as the league champions wrapped up their season with a 2-1 victory over the visiting Haringey Hounds.

The victory saw the young Herd complete their campaign with a unbeaten record and 15 points clear of their nearest rivals.

However, in their final game, things did not go to plan as the visitors scored the opening goal at 2:38 on the powerplay from Tiago Richardson.

The Bison levelled within a minute, as impressive defenceman Oliver Bower surged down the left wing and his cross found Travis Penny, whose shot hit the post and Cain Russell netted the rebound.

Soon after, Thomas Banner’s shot hit the post and spirit of the game winner Alfie Taylor was denied close in.

Sam Childs in the home net then did well to keep out a shot from Matthew Monaghan.

Bison Man of the match William Birch went close with the last chance of the period after being fed by Emily Harris.

The home side dominated the middle session, and only an excellent performance from man of the match Gleb Poliakov kept them out.

He produced real heroics to deny Birch, Harris and Charlie Wedge on an early powerplay.

Richardson shorthanded then tested Childs, before Birch went past three players, but then was unable to find the finish.

Further chances saw Sam Hemming-Maher flash a shot just wide and Harrison Wynn saw his back hand shot sticked away.

Poliakov was called into action early in the final period with a great save from Russell, after a super centring pass from Penny.

The Bison scored the game winner at 31:46, after good work by Matthew West and Sam Stephens saw Poole score close in.

Ciaran Norris nearly scored a third for the home side, but his shot was saved.

The home side then had the better of the closing stages as Birch, Penny and Russell all went close, but they were unable to add to their tally.
