GREG Martyn scored a hat-trick of goals and assists on his way to the man of the match award as the Basingstoke Buffalo maintained their push towards the promotion play-offs with a 15-4 home win over the Wightlink Tigers.

However, the home side did not have all their own way, as Tigers took a 2-0 lead thanks to strikes from Blair Dubyk and Kurt Tyrell.

The Buffalo hit back as Connor Hutchison scored, but it was not until the second period that they took the lead as Greg Martyn netted twice with assists from Ashley Skinns, Matt Lawday and Sam Dolin.

Three more goals quickly followed as Warren Jones, Martyn with his hat-trick strike and Liam Coleman all scored.

It then became 7-2 as Mark Pitts who went on to collect 1+6 scored from Michael Gorman and Jones.

The visitors pulled a goal back from Dubyk, but the Buffalo increased their lead to 10-3 by the second break as Matt Lawday bagged a pair and Coleman netted his second of the game.

The final session saw Lawday complete his hat-trick just 19 seconds in to the session and then Ryan Sutton scored on the powerplay.

The goals were still coming thick and fast for the home side as Lawday took his tally to four.

Graham Bellamy then netted on the powerplay, before Hallam Wilson took the home side's score to 15.

It was left to the Tigers' Tyrell to wrap up the scoring with a goal in the final four minutes of the contest.

This weekend, the Buffalo are on the road as they face the Cardiff Fire in a South West Two top of the table clash.
