I KNOW a lot of you will be reading this after attending our Cup Game against Guildford last night. Whatever the result, I hope you enjoyed a great night at the rink.

If you’d asked me a month ago if I would take competing for a Cup Final place and going on a run of eight wins having lost our starting netminder and our top scoring forward, I’d have been delighted.

It’s a shame that frustration spoiled last Saturday’s game against Sheffield. Ice hockey is a fast, intense, physical sport which excites everyone who plays it or watches it. If bounces are going against us, if calls are going against us, we should all still be able to enjoy the experience together.

The guys put the Sheffield game behind them and I can’t fault the effort they put into their game in Telford on Sunday. We’re not going to win every game we play. What matters is how we pick ourselves up after a loss and that we approach the next game with confidence.

Let’s hope you watched us bounce back on Wednesday evening and put ourselves in a good position for the return leg in Guildford in a week’s time. We know how hard they’ll be trying after losing back-to-back games last weekend against Milton Keynes.

Between the cup games, we’ve got two big league games to look forward to, the first against Milton Keynes on Friday.

They’re well placed in the English Premier League and by Friday they’ll know if they’ve qualified for the Cup Final, as they will have played Peterborough in the return leg two days previously.

Then we climb on to the coach on Saturday for the long trip to Hull, whose form is steadily improving.

What’s not to enjoy! See you all Friday
