WE HAD a massive crowd at the rink last Saturday to watch us score 10 goals against our local rivals from Bracknell and secure our record-tying tenth successive home win in the EPL.

We observed a minute’s silence before the game and played the Marseillaise to show our respect for those who had died in such tragic circumstances in Paris.

It was good that all of us there could come together in this way.

Sport gives people a chance to find some kind of normality when events happen that are so difficult to understand. It was important that fans and players could stand together to acknowledge this and then get on with our lives as best we can.

Obviously our huge win was appreciated by our supporters who have yet to see us lose at home. It meant that we had secured a place in the final stages of the cup competition.

This is a trophy we won two years ago and will be contested by ourselves, Guildford, Milton Keynes and Peterborough this year.

We had a long trip up to Hull on Sunday, with plenty of time to focus on the importance of the game.

A win would put us at the top of the league and give us a favourable draw in the Cup. A win seemed likely going into the third period, but Hull got a short-handed goal just before the end of the game to take the win.

Three wins out of 10 on the road is worrying. We’ve just got home games now to play in November, against Milton Keynes and Hull.

We’ve got something to prove against those two teams, so we’re looking forward to your support.

Many thanks, too, for supporting the collection for St Michael’s Hospice so generously.
