BASINGSTOKE Town made the long trip to Truro City and returned empty handed as they were beaten 2-0 in the National League South.

The visitors made four chances to the side which lost at Concord Rangers on Saturday as Rob Rice, Nathan Smart, Simon Dunn and Liam Enver-Marum all came into the starting line-up. They replaced Will Salmon, Harrison Gilkes, Louie Soares and Glen Southam.

The home side started with the wind advantage and took the lead after 20 minutes, as Connor Riley-Lowe scored from an acute angle.

Truro who as expected had most of the play in the first 45 minutes, nearly added a second late in the first-half, but Aaron Howe made an excellent save to deny Ryan Brett.

After the break, the visitors now with the wind advantage and pushed forward for an equaliser, but with two minutes left, the home side added a second goal as sub Isaac Vassel's cross was met by the head of Cody Cooke.

Next up for the Dragons is a home game against high flying Maidstone United on Saturday at the Camrose.
