MARK Pitts turned in a five star performance as the Basingstoke Buffalo enjoyed their biggest win of the season at Wightlink Raiders 13-1.

Man of the match Pitts opened the scoring for the visitors with his first five goals goals assisted by Neil Leary and Dave Collins in the third minute.

The same player added a second on the powerplay with Ashley Skinns and Leary picking up the helpers.

Ryan Sutton with a solo strike made it 3-0 and by the first buzzer the Buffalo had added another two goals thanks to Warren Jones and Kyle Goddard.

Greg Martyn netted the first goal of the second period, before the island side scored their only goal of the game at 31:36.

The comeback was short lived, as Pitts completed his hat-trick as he finished a move which involved Leary and Graham Bellamy and then Jones netted his second of the match.

The final 20 minutes, saw the Buffalo add five more unanswered goals with Matt Levy getting the first, quickly followed by strikes from Pitts and Daniel Lackey.

Pitts netted his fifth of the night from Goddard's pass at 51:14 and Lackey completed the 13-1 win assisted by Bellamy and Leary his fourth helper on the night.
