THE Basingstoke Buffalo remain on course for a place in the semi-finals of the National League South Cup after they followed up a 11-1 thrashing of the Lee Valley Lions with a 2-2 draw at the Chelmsford Warriors.

Chelmsford opened the scoring with the only goal of the first period, but the Buffalo were level 14 seconds after the break, as Mark Pitts and Neil Leary combined for Paul Petts to score.

Daniel Lackey gave the Buffalo the lead after he converted Ryan Sutton’s pass, but with three minutes left the home side made sure of a draw with their second goal of the game.

This Saturday (6.30pm), the Buffalo return to league action as they entertain last season’s champions the Bristol Pitbulls.

The under-15 Bison drew 1-1 with the visiting Swindon Lions, a result that leaves them third in the table. This Saturday (4.15pm) they entertain second-placed Streatham.

The Herd scored first as Bradley Poole played in Oliver Bower and he rifled a shot into the roof of the net at 12:16.

Lucas Swierc nearly doubled the lead, but his shot hit the post, before Swindon equalised early in the second session.

Debutant Cain Russell was their man of the match, while netminder Sam Childs collected the spirit of the game award.

South One league leaders the under-13 Bison suffered their first loss of the season, going down 5-3 at home to Bracknell.

Russell scored the home side’s first two goals and Charlie Wedge netted the third.

Travis Penny picked up three assists and there were single helpers for Daniel Delap and Sophie Halstead.

The under-11 Bison had their toughest challenge yet against a well-drilled Swindon Jaguars side and they lost 8-0.

The young Herd’s man of the match was Jude Affleck and Roman Cathcart was the spirit of the game winner.
