DAN Weller-Evans has re-signed for the Basingstoke Bison, completing the Herd’s netminding team for the coming campaign.

Weller-Evans will once again fill the role of back-up goalie, this time to Tomas Hiadlovsky.

Last season he recorded a 91.4 per cent save ratio from the three games he played.

The 21-year-old, who lives in Hatch Warren, is looking forward to another campaign.

Weller-Evans said: “It is a great to be back for the Bison and I am looking forward to the new season and working with the new Bison goalie.

“The team looks very good and it is going to be easy to slot in behind the defence as I know them all.

“I know what my job is on the team, but I prepare to play every game so I ready if called upon.”

Bison player/coach Doug Sheppard said: “I’m really pleased to have Dan (Weller-Evans) back as he works so hard in training and is improving all the time.

“I will try and give him some minutes this season as he deserves it, but with their league being very competitive it is not going to be easy.”

Last season’s netminder, Dean Skinns, signed for the Milton Keynes Lightning late last week.

Basingstoke-born Skinns will have a quick return to his home town team as the Lightning visit Basingstoke for a pre-season challenge game on September 2.

Sheppard said: “Obviously it was a good opportunity for Dean (Skinns) and we wish him well.”

The Bison will reveal their jersey designs for the upcoming campaign during their annual Meet the Players evening at the Basingstoke Arena.

The event, which includes an open training session, gets underway at 7.30pm on Tuesday, with doors opening at 6.45pm.
