ZIZZI of Basingstoke will once again sponsor the Basingstoke Bison this season – and to celebrate the renewed link-up there will be a special charity night at the Top of the Town restaurant on Wednesday, June 10.

The event will see Herd players waiting tables at Zizzi and the cash tips they collect on the night will be given to the Nepal Earthquake Appeal Disasters Emergency Committee.

Both Zizzi and the Bison are delighted to be linking up again, with the restaurant continuing to provide the prize, a three-course meal for four and a bottle of wine, for the popular Chuck-A-Puck competition.

The restaurant is also offering every season ticket or Bison match ticket holder reduced prices with 20 per cent taken off the bill for up to six people.

This offer can be used on the charity night as well as throughout the summer. Tables can be booked for the Bison night either online or by contacting the restaurant by telephone.

Herd player/coach Doug Sheppard is delighted to have Zizzi on board again and said: “We worked really well together last year.

“The players and fans enjoyed visiting Zizzi and this is going to continue.”

Alex Cox, general manager of Basingstoke’s Zizzi, said: “We are really pleased to support the Basingstoke Bison as they play a big part in the community.

“We are looking forward to the players helping us on our charity night. We have Nepalese chefs, so it is an appeal that is close to the hearts of all of us here at the restaurant.

“It is sure to be a great evening and we hope to build on the success of last year’s event when the players helped us on a cancer charity night.”

As well as the Bison players being on hand to take orders next Wednesday, there will also be live music from Rachel Rose.

A raffle will be held to boost the amount of money raised on the evening.

This evening, the Bison are holding a season ticket night at the Basingstoke Arena, where they will be unveiling their new club captain as well as some signing news for the forthcoming campaign.

Last year’s skipper, Nicky Chinn, retired earlier in the summer, but he has since taken up a player/coach role with National Hockey League outfit the Streatham Redskins.

As well as announcing their new captain, the club will reveal more news, while sponsors Berry Bros & Rudd will be there, handing out vouchers for a raffle to win a Bison season ticket.

Doors open at 6.30pm and the presentation will be at 7.45pm.
