HARROW Way ice hockey player Josh Kelly helped England under-15s win the Tourneo Internazionale under 15 Mountain Cup Challenge hosted by Torino Bulls.

This was 15-year-old Kelly's second tournament playing for England this season, the first was in France last October, when the Guildford under-16 and under-18 player who started his junior career at Basingstoke helped England to second place This tournament in Turin at the Palaghiaccio Tazzoli ice rink which was purpose built for the Turin Winter Olympics in 2006, saw seven teams from around Europe as well as a select team from United Arab Emirates which was made up of American and Canadian players.

The teams were split into two groups of four, and England's first game was against the host club and the game proved to be a real thriller with the visitors winning it 5-4 after overtime.

Their next game proved even tougher as they lost to Swiss side HC Seewen 6-4.

The second day of the tournament saw England complete their group games with two more victories.

This was thanks to a 12-2 success over another team from Switzerland HC Bulle and then a 4-2 victory over the UAE team GCC Heat Selection.

This was enough to win the group and book a place in the final against Italian team HC Valpellice Bulldogs.

The final was very tense affair with both teams evenly matched and the first period ended 0-0.

After the interval, Valpellice scored quickly, but England hit back with two quick goals and by the second buzzer led 3-1.

The Italian came out strong in the final period, but the English defence, which included Aldworth School pupil Kelly kept them out and with no further goals England won the tournament.

Valpellice came out strong in the 3rd period, as did England who closed down any attempts at scoring and England were victorious finishing with the 3-1 win.

For 15-year-old Kelly it was his second appearance for England during the season as in October he travelled to Amiens in France where the English unfortunately lost in the final.
