THE BASINGSTOKE Bison wrap up their league season with a trip to Milton Keynes Lightning on Saturday (7pm).

The Herd made sure of third place in the English Premier League with excellent victories over Swindon and Milton Keynes last weekend.

The Lightning will be out for quick revenge in a series that, so far, has seen the home side win every game.

MK still have an outside chance of taking sixth spot from the Manchester Phoenix, but Manchester only need one point from their last two games, which are at home to bottom-placed Bracknell and then Swindon.

It looks more than likely the Phoenix will finish sixth in the table, which would set-up a play-off quarter-final clash with the Bison on the last weekend of March.

The home game of the two-legged clash will be at the Basingstoke Arena on Sunday March 29.

This would leave MK to face Guildford, while champions Telford take on Sheffield, and Swindon and Peterborough make up the final tie.

The Bison look set to be without British defencemen Declan Balmer and Matt Selby and forward Tomas Karpov for the trip to Milton Keynes.

The game could be a feisty affair after last weekend’s match in Basingstoke, in which Joe Greener hammered in a hat-trick.

However, both teams should be focused on the bigger picture of the upcoming play-offs and both sides will want a full roster to pick from as they chase the final trophy of the season.

Bison player/coach Doug Sheppard said: “Last weekend was really good for us as we scored 14 goals and Joe (Greener) and Ciaran (Long) looked in good form.

“We have one game left in the league and I want to use it to make sure we use to make sure we are ready for the play-offs.”
