THE Basingstoke Bison completed a four point weekend with a 5-2 victory at the Peterborough Phantoms.

The victory moved the third placed Herd three points clear of the Phantoms in the English Premier League.

The home side were the first to score from Will Weedon on the powerplay as Kurt Reynolds sat out an interference penalty.

The Herd hit back as they netted their own goal with a man advantage from Tomas Karpov, after Edgars Bebris was sent to the sin bin for holding.

The Peterborough man made amends before the first buzzer, as he scored on another powerplay, after Joe Baird ended up in the penalty box for boarding.

The second session saw the visitors take control of the game as Ciaran Long scored at 21 minutes dead.

Then defenceman Miroslav Vantroba scored his third goal of the weekend from a nice feed from Karpov.

In the final minute of the period, Greener added a fourth goal and then Peterborough had Weedon dismissed for a check to the head on Stuart Mogg.

He also clashed with Joe Rand which earned both players four minutes for roughing and Rand also picked up an additional cross checking penalty.

The final session saw just one goal and Karpov scored his second of the night and the Bison’s fifth.

The Herd then had to kill off a number of penalties to make sure of the victory.

Next up for the Bison is a trip to second placed Guildford Flames on Wednesday night (face-off 7.30pm).
