EMILY Harris scored four times and Elliot Lewis netted a hat-trick on his home debut as the Basingstoke under-14 Bison beat the visiting Isle of Wight 9-6.

William Birch opened the home side’s scoring, before the island side levelled things.

Harris’s first goal of the evening put the young Herd back in front, and then Oliver Reeves crashed a shot off the crossbar. The home side ended the first period 3-2 up after Sam Hemmings-Maher found Lewis to score their third goal.

Hemmings-Maher opened the second session scoring as he converted Kody Sewell’s rebound, but once again the island side cut the lead to one.

The home side then extended their advantage to 7-3 as Harris scored either side of another goal from Lewis.

The visitors then pulled a goal back before the second buzzer.

Isle of Wight cut the lead further with the first goal of the final period, but most valuable player Harris hit her fourth of the game and Lewis rounded off his hat-trick before the visitors completed the game scoring.

Alfie Taylor was the home side’s spirit of the game winner, while Joe Cates-Beier made his Herd debut and under-12 Bison Tyton Cathcart played his first under-14 game.

Josh Richards was the under-18 Bison’s hat-trick hero as they won 10-3 at Peterborough.

Connor Hutchinson’s shorthanded strike opened the scoring at 5:58.

Richards netted the next two, both assisted by Paul Petts, and then Benjamin Clark converted Joel Venning’s pass to complete a 4-0 first session. Goals from Jack Reddin and Matt Levy in the second period extended the lead to 6-0.

Two goals in the space of two minutes from Sam Compton and George Gill, assisted Jordan Gillard, took the Herd’s tally to eight.

The home side then scored a couple of goals before Richards completed his hat-trick.

The sides then swapped goals and it was left to Hutchinson to wrap up the scoring 39 seconds before the final buzzer.
