BASINGSTOKE Bison gave-up three powerplays in the final period, as English Premier League leaders Telford Tigers came back from 5-3 down to win 6-5 in Shropshire.

Former Herd man Joe Miller got their first goal and then Jonathan Weaver netted to tie the game at 44:52.

It was left to Peter Szabo to score the winner at 53:28, as Ciaran Long sat out his second tripping penalty of the session.

In this high scoring contest, Telford took the lead after just 40 seconds as import defenceman Martin Ondrej scored.

The Bison hit back as Long replied on a Bison powerplay and then Tomas Karpov made it 2-1 at 10:26.

The Tigers’ first of five powerplay goals on the night saw Salem level things up at 18:37.

The first man advantage of the second session saw Long put the Herd in front again, only for Telford to level from their own powerplay from Rick Plant at 26:55.

The rest of the session belonged to the visitors as goals from Aaron Connolly and Michael Wales gave them a 5-3 lead going into the final session.

However, the Tigers stormed back with three unanswered third period goals to win the game.
