BASINGSTOKE Bison never recovered after they conceded a goal after 14 seconds, as they lost 6-1 in the top-of-the-table clash at Telford Tigers.

The home side got off to a dream start, as Peter Szabo scored from the left wing with the Tigers first attack.

They then doubled their advantage after a great one-time shot from Max Birbraer in the seventh minute.

It became 3-0 at 10:22, as Szabo scored on the powerplay after a nice break down the left wing.

Within a minute, the Herd pulled a goal back after Grant Rounding forced his way into the Telford end zone and then Tomas Karpov fed Miroslav Vantroba to fire home.

However, the Tigers restored their three goal lead, after Rick Plant scored from an acute angle to make the score 4-1 at the first buzzer.

The rest of the contest was a lot more even with the home side scoring one goal in each period.

Birbraer scored the only goal of the second session and Szabo completed his hat-trick for a 6-1 victory.

This weekend, The Bison take a break from league action with two British Challenge Cup home games against Chelmsford on Saturday (face-off 6.30pm) and Wightlink the following evening which starts at 5.30pm.

Both matches are part of the Bison season ticket package.
