THE Basingstoke under-18 Bison put in a five-star performance as they won at Cardiff 5-1.

The visitors scored the only goal of the first period thanks to a great blue line blast from defenceman Jack Standing.

The second session saw Daniel Moss, on his debut, go close with a blue shot and then Paul Petts made it 2-0 as he completed a move involving Kyle Goddard and Josh Richards.

The visitors then ran into penalty trouble, but were rescued by some excellent saves from goalie Jordan Lawday.

The Bison’s third line then put the Cardiff goal under pressure after great fore checking from Luke Coles allowed Joel Venning to force a save.

The young Herd made it 3-0 at 30:13 when Wilson converted a pass from Goddard.

The home side were then given a great chance to get on the scoreboard as they were awarded a penalty shot, but Lawday saved it.

Cardiff were the first to score in the final period, but just 24 seconds later Wilson scored again from Goddard.

It was left to Petts, with a solo effort, to wrap up the scoring.

The under-18 Bison lost 4-1 at home to Guildford – Wilson scoring the only goal, assisted by Richards.
