BASINGSTOKE Bison gained quick revenge for their defeat on home ice against the Guildford Flames, as they won the return game 6-2 in Surrey on Sunday night.

Andy Melachrino scored the only goal of the first period and the British forward struck again at 23:08, to double the advantage.

The Flames dragged themselves back into the contest, as their all Brit line struck thanks to Ben Campbell.

However, the Herd scored twice more before the second buzzer, as man-of-the-match Joe Rand scored shorthanded, as Aaron Connolly sat out an interference penalty.

Defenceman Kurt Reynolds completed a great five point night, with a goal on the powerplay at 31:11 to make it 4-1.

Guildford drew first blood in the final period, as Tom Duggan scored for the second night running.

Any hopes of a Flames comeback were dashed as Rand netted the Herd’s second powerplay goal of the night and then Tomas Karpov completed the 6-2 victory.

With their pre-season completed the Bison will now focus on their opening English Premier League game at home to the Peterborough Phantoms on Saturday (face-off 6.30pm).
