IT WAS another double delight for Basingstoke Bison’s Dean Skinns and Tomas Karpov, who both won two trophies at the club’s annual awards night.

It was a great night of celebration for the Herd, who won the English Premier League Play-offs and EPL Cup during their most memorable season at this level.

Leading goal scorer on the team, Czech forward Tomas Karpov, picked up the Coaches’ Player of the Year and Supporters’ Club Player of the Year, while netminder Skinns, who recorded five shut-outs during the campaign, collected the Players’ Player and British Supporters’ Club Player.

A new award for this season was for the Most Improved Player, which went to young forward Stuart Mogg.

The teenager, in his first season with the Herd, scored his first-ever senior goal.

The Outstanding Contribution award went to the team behind Bison TV in recognition of their achieve-ments following the re-launch midway through the season.

Sapphire Cleaning won the sponsors draw, meaning their logo will appear on the the Bison jerseys for the 2014/15 season.

The Basingstoke Bison Booster Club also made a presentation, after raising money for a brand new trophy cabinet to house the recently-won cups, as well as players’ trophies, at the Basingstoke Arena.

Bison player/coach Doug Sheppard said: “The two double winners were fully deserved, and did well when you consider the year.”

Talking about the most improved player award, which the Bison boss presented, Sheppard said: “Moggy has come on leaps and bounds this season and is smart player who is willing to learn.

“He will certainly be a regular in the line-up in years to come.”

Bison fans packed into the bar of the Basingstoke Arena the following evening to chat to the players and get the chance to have their pictures taken with both of the trophies that the Herd won during the campaign.
