BASINGSTOKE RFC completed their first London Three South West league double of the season, as they won at Weybridge Vandals 20-11.

The visitors were quickly out of the blocks as Tom Humberstone kicked over a penalty for a 3-0 lead.

The home side hit back with an unconverted try and then Stoke did likewise as three phrases took them 50 metres and George Hemmings touched down.

A Weybridge penalty then tied the scores, but Basingstoke were not finished and led 13-8 at half-time, after Simon Appleby dived over the line.

The first score of the second-half was a penalty to the home side, which made it a two point game.

The visitors hit back and the home side conceded a penalty, which Stoke decided to kick for a line-out.

From this there was a great drive and for the second time in the game Appleby was the try scorer.

Humberstone added the extras to complete the 20-11 win which keeps Stoke fourth in the table.

The team now have two weekends off, before they return to action with a home game against Old Cranleighans on January 7, where they will be out for revenge after a 17-10 loss earlier in the season.
