BASINGSTOKE RFC crashed to their biggest away defeat of the season, as they lost at lowly Dover 90-7.

The Kent side needed one point from the game to make sure of London One South survival and thanks to 14 tries they collected a maximum five points from the fixture.

The latest big loss brings down the curtain on what has to be one of ’Stoke’s worst ever campaigns.

Dover were soon in front against visiting Basingstoke as good play led to winger Ben Sedgewick scoring and Blair Charge kicked over his first of eight conversions for the afternoon.

Soon after, Ed Blower doubled the advantage to 14-0 and then a good surging run from Harry Moore saw him score.

Sedgewick then went over under the posts for the bonus point score and the writing was on the wall for sorry ’Stoke.

The tries continued to flow from the home side as a good line-out followed by excellent work from the backs, saw Harry Sayers go over for his first of four tries.

Aaron Cooper with a 40 metre run and score under the posts was followed by Haydn Annakie, after a beautiful reverse pass from his brother Jordan to make it 47-0 at half-time.

The Kent side kept up the pressure after the break as winger Sayers scored out wide and Nathan Annakie went in under the posts which Jack Ayling converted.

Charge added to his kicking points with a nice try after great vision from Moore.

Sayers’ hat-trick try came as he was able to gather up the ball after Tom Wathey’s chip forward.

The score moved onto 76-0 after Ben Crawford scored from a line-out and then Sayers scored again as he returned a kick which never made touch.

Basingstoke finally got on the scoreboard as Sam Turner scored and Karl Bruce converted, but Dover were not done and prop Aaron Cooper completed the 90-7 scoreline with their own converted try.

Elsewhere in London One, Wimbledon were crowned champions after a 54-7 win over Sidcup.

Meanwhile in the relegation showdown at Cobham, it was visiting Twickenham who took the spoils with a 20-10 victory which sent the home side down, along with Hove and of course Basingstoke.
