READING slipped down to 18th in the Championship table after they lost 3-0 at home to Nottingham Forest.

The Royals had the better of the opening 45 minutes and they had their chances to take the lead.

Pavel Pogrebnyak had a header saved and Garath McCleary had a chance cleared off the line by Jamal Lascelles.

The visitors never looked back after Ben Osborn’s superb long range effort opened the scoring after 56 minutes.

Forest then added two more goals as Matty Fryatt tapped in and then Gary Gardner scored with a long range effort.

Reading manager Steve Clarke said: “It is not an easy time at club and we have to make sure we move up the table. Everyone is in this together.”

The Royals will hope to bounce back to winning ways on Tuesday night, when they travel to Bolton, who are directly above them in the Championship table. The game has an 8pm kick-off.
