BASINGSTOKE RFC suffered another heavy defeat in London One South as they lost at title chasers Sidcup 57-0.

The victory for the Kent side moved them back to third in the table, while ’Stoke remain one from bottom, as they were unable to upset the form book.

Basingstoke were still without the suspended Ryan Davis and the home side took six minutes to take the lead, after Jim Hardy scored wide out on the left. The same player then converted.

Sidcup then took 20 minutes to add to their tally as a good run from Jordan Eiffert allowed Jon West to go over and this time the extras were missed.

The Kent side scored their third try after a drive from a line-out saw Peter Grayson’s push over try and Hardy kicked the conversion for a 19-0 lead.

The bonus point try arrived just before half-time and from a scrum Hardy scored again and converted.

After the interval, the home side added to their score as West scored a try which Hardy converted.

Then a great break from Jack Berry allowed Matt Ody to go in under the posts and with Hardy’s conversion the score moved to 40-0.

The tries continued to come for Sidcup with Ashton Dean and Berry both going over.

It was left to winger James Poland to complete the scoreline with an unconverted try with the final play of the game.

‘Stoke have no game this coming weekend and are next in action against mid-table Charlton Park at home on Saturday February 21.
