BASINGSTOKE Town Football Club is up for sale on internet auction site Ebay.

The Southern League Premier Division side listed the bidding as low as 99p, leaving the door open for any fans to live out their dream of owning a football club.

This comes after news of longstanding chairman of the Dragons for 25 years Rafi Razzak announced that he would walk away from the club in May 2017.

In 2014, the club rose to worldwide fame after attempting to sign Brazilian World Cup winner Ronaldinho and this is another unique choice in the Dragons more than 120 year history.

Former town director and supporter Simon Hood said with the right leadership, the club has the potential to soar.

He said: “We’re keen to find a buyer who shares our affection for Basingstoke Town FC. The club has a rich history of success, based in a town of over 175,000, the prospective supporter base is huge.”

“Perhaps our new owner is an existing supporter. If they’re not already, I have no doubt they will be once they’ve met everyone involved in the club. This is a fantastic opportunity for somebody to become a legend here in Basingstoke.”

At the time of publication the highest bid stood at £65,800, with more than six days left to run on the auction.

Mr Hood added: “We have already received a couple of private messages from around the world from potential bidders. Anyone interested in taking on this exciting new challenge and overseeing the club has the opportunity to propel Basingstoke Town forwards should take a look at the eBay listing and talk to the club for further details.”
