BASINGSTOKE RFC will kick-off their season in London South West Three with a trip to Surrey to face Farnham who finished fifth in this division last season on September 10.

Stoke’s first home game is against Weybridge Vandals a week later, a side they beat in their final game of last season’s campaign Head Coach Gareth Hatheley Hurford said: “Its going to be interesting as are opening fixture is a local derby against Farnham who are a good team building well there coach Matt Kemp is friend so it will add good value to the fixture.

“I’m looking forward to the start of the season as with the ending of last season being so positive the hope is that we can use that positivity to continue building in the right direction.

He added: “ Last season was tough on all the lads but they stuck it out together and held their heads up proudly it took courage for them to go through what they did and I hope they can now use that experience to there advantage.”

“With a solid pre season behind us and so new faces to the team so far we are on course for a very productive and enjoyable season including all the twists and turns.

“Farnham will be tough but we will focus on us Weybridge the following week will also be tough as they will want to get us back for the last game of the season but again we will focus on us.

The team currently trains twice a week on Tuesdays and Thursday evenings from 7.30pm to 9pm with food after training on Thursdays.

They are open to anyone wanting to get involved and accommodating to the level to which they are looking for.
