BASINGSTOKE RFC kicked off 2015 with a thrilling 16-15 victory at Cobham to complete the league double over their Surrey rivals.

The result still leaves ’Stoke 13th in London One South, but they are now only two points behind tenth placed Cobham.

The match on Saturday, started late after the referee went to Chobham instead.

In a tight first-half dominated by both defences, Basingstoke managed the only score from a penalty to lead 3-0 at the break.

Cobham levelled things with their own penalty after the break, but Basingstoke won the game 16-15.

’Stoke will hope to built on this victory when they open their home campaign of 2015 with a visit from high flying Chobham on Saturday.

They moved up to third in the league, after an impressive 23-20 win over promotion rivals Sutton and Epsom.
