OVERTON Harriers played host to the opening round of the Hampshire Road Race League, as over 450 runners took part on the five mile course.

Winchester and District runner Toby Lambert won the men’s race in a time of 25min 20sec, ahead of Daniel O’Boyle from Stubbington Green (25:36), with Overton’s James Knight (26:23) third.

He was also the vet 40 win¬ ner.

The top Basingstoke and Mid Hants finisher was Dave Regan (26.43) in fifth place.

The women’s race was won by Hart Road Runners’ Lesley Locks (30:10) ahead of Kathryn Bailey (30:28) from Winchester, with New Forest Runner Erica Fogg (30:42) third.

Other Overton successes saw Greg England win the men’s vet 50 race in 30:18 whilst club mate Lee Tolhurst (28:05) was third in the men’s vet 40 category.

After the opening event, Overton are third in the Men’s A Division One and top the Men’s B Division One.

There was also a 2.5 mile fun run on the day, which saw Finley Ducker from Winchester win the junior boy’s race and Overton’s Alice Monagan take the hon¬ ours in the junior girls’ event.
