WINCHESTER’S Matthew King won the Tadley Runners eighth 10 mile road race in a time of 55min 30sec.

Second was Overton Harriers’ James Knight, 12 seconds behind, while Gareth Watkins from the Royal Engineers AC was third in 57:18.

In total, 168 runners took part in the race, which wound around the country lanes of Baughurst, Wolverton, Ramsdell, Charter Alley and old Tadley.

The women’s race was won by Bracknell’s Dawn Godwin (67:29) ahead of Alice Wyatt (70:49), with Basingstoke and Mid Hants runner Becky Crisp (70:57) third.

Crisp was also part of the leading team along with Basingstoke team mates Marc Soane and Michael Hickey.

Chineham Park Running Club’s John McElroy won the male vet 50 title.

Reading Road Runners won three of the vets titles thanks to Gavin Rennie (male vet 40), Claire Marks (female vet 45) and Claire Elliot (female vet 55).

Tim Hughes of the White Horse Harriers finished first in the male vet 60 class – and ladies vet 35 winner was Harriet Chettleburgh.
